Maldonado collects his Bridgestone prize money
Closing the sixth season of the Bridgestone-backed GP2 Series, the 2010 awards ceremony was held at the Yas Marina Circuit on Sunday evening (14 November). GP2 Champion and Rapax driver Pastor Maldonado collected his GP2 Series trophy and the Bridgestone US$100,000 prize cheque which was presented by Mr Franco Annunziato, Senior Vice President Technology, Bridgestone Europe.

During Bridgestone’s final year as official partners to the GP2 Series, 2010 Champion Pastor Maldonado secured six consecutive feature race wins. Maldonado’s record-breaking run of race wins, from Istanbul through to Spa Francorchamps, helped his team, Rapax, also claim the 2010 teams’ championship title.
Mr Annunziato presenting the prize cheque was a fitting tribute to the staff at the Bridgestone Technical Centre Europe, in Rome, where Bridgestone has manufactured its GP2 Potenza tyres in recent years.
