Schumacher partners Rosberg at Mercedes

Schumacher, who turns 41 on 3 January, will partner compatriot Nico Rosberg at Mercedes which won the drivers’ and constructors’ titles in 2009 in its former guise as Brawn GP.

At the end of the 2006 season Schumacher retired from F1 though he maintained links to the sport through an ambassadorial role at Ferrari. After a failed attempt at a comeback in 2009 as a stand-in for Felipe Massa, Schumacher will now rejoin the German car manufacturer who initially aided his leap into Formula One.

Schumacher previously won 91 Grands Prix

From 16 seasons competing in Formula One, Schumacher claimed 91 wins, 154 podium places, 68 pole positions and 76 fastest laps, making him one of the most successful drivers the sport has ever seen.
